More than two years have passed, and the only Shopify app with an email reminder feature is Ad Perfect Pop-ups. While Ad Perfect Pop-ups continues to thrive, the Rivo Pop-up has vanished from the Shopify App Store.
Looking for an affordable Pop-up app that sends coupons by email, provides product recommendations, and more? You should check out Ad Perfect on Shopify App Store!

As a dedicated shop owner always on the lookout for tools to enhance our online presence and customer engagement, I stumbled upon Rivo's pop-up app with high hopes. Unfortunately, my experience has been nothing short of frustrating, leading me to advise fellow entrepreneurs to steer clear of Rivo's services.
Firstly, Rivo's practice of using their pop-up app as a lure to funnel users into their reviews app, Rivo Reviews, is misleading and shows a blatant disregard for their clients' actual needs. This tactic, coupled with their apparent neglect of the pop-up app's development, is a red flag for any serious business owner.
Abbie Lauronal's comment sheds light on this issue, noting the stark difference in functionality and value between Rivo and alternatives like Ad Perfect. It's evident that Rivo prioritizes their reviews app over enhancing the pop-up service, leaving users like us in the lurch.
Keith Allibone's outcry over the lack of a double opt-in feature, even two years post-complaint, echoes the sentiments of many. This oversight not only compromises email list integrity but also opens the door to fake email submissions, undermining our marketing efforts.
The absence of essential functionalities such as sending discount codes directly to customers' email addresses, highlighted by Bec Walton and Cristiano Gala, further exemplifies Rivo's negligence. This gap allows for the misuse of discount codes and deprives genuine customers of a seamless shopping experience.
Home Living Store's experiences resonate deeply with my own. Their struggle with managing instant purchases and addressing customer queries about discount codes and expiry dates due to Rivo's limitations is a scenario all too familiar. The lack of a simple email confirmation feature for discount codes is a glaring oversight on Rivo's part.
While Fedi Mekhaiel offers a workaround using Shopify automations, the complexity and limitations of this solution only add to the frustration. It's a band-aid solution to a problem that shouldn't exist in the first place.
In conclusion, my experience with Rivo's pop-up app has been a series of disappointments. Their focus seems misaligned with their users' needs, prioritizing their reviews app over crucial pop-up app functionalities. This approach not only undermines our marketing efforts but also impacts our customer relationships negatively. I urge fellow shop owners to consider alternatives that offer comprehensive features and genuine support for their businesses.

Rivo used this app to get people to their real app, which is the Rivo Reviews, they don't care about Pop-Ups 😕
I rather use ad perfect for pop ups, same interface - double the features.

HOW IS IT POSSIBLE TO NOT HAVE DOUBLE OPT IN, 2 YEARS AFTER THIS POST?? AND EVERYONE IS LIKE OHHH 5 stars cause they’re literally all fake email addresses

Is there a timeline on the implementation of sending the code to the customers email address?

People can simply insert fake emails in the popup and always get a new code. This function is needed to prevent this type of easy access to discount codes.

Without this, the app only works for an instant purchase.
We've been using it for two days and received a number of emails from people who closed the pop-up and can no longer find the code.
We've also had enquiries about expiry date, since the only place this is mentioned is in the pop-up text we added.
As a discount code generating app, surely an email confirmation with simply the code and expiration date is an important thing to be able to offer!

Primary Account: This actually is already doable in Shopify through automations: you can simply create an automation that automatically sends the code via email to all people leaving the email address in the popup.

Fedi Mekhaiel: We have looked at this and tried to create an automation.
We could create a general automation to send a code to every new subscriber, however to send only to subscribers generated by the RIVO app, plus link the unique one time code which is created in our discounts section, we don't see a way to check for these.
Have you managed to achieve this?

Primary Account: yes. you can choose to send the email only to Rivo subscribers. When a customer leaves his email in the Rivo popup, a shopify customer tag "Subscribed via Rivo" is automatically assigned to that customer in Shopify. You can check this in the customer details. So in the automation, you simply need to set a condition that when a customer is added, the automation will check the shopify tag attached to it: if it is RIVO then send email with discount code. I have done this already and I send different emails with different content based on where the customer is subscribing from (Rivo popup, newsletter etc)
I hope this helps!

Fedi Mekhaiel: Hi Fedi,
Yes super helpful in find the subscriber tag!
Are you sending the same discount code to everyone, or the unique code for that customer generated by RIVO ??
F
Fedi Mekhaiel
Primary Account: i send the same code to everyone. I think this logic would not work if you need to send a custom code for each customer. However, in creating the discount code in shopify, you can set it as valid 1 time only per each user (email address). People can still use different email addresses to use the code again, but this trick would work with the unique code as well.

Fedi Mekhaiel: The RIVO app generates a unique code which is shown to the customer when they subscribe. This is automatically created in the Shopify discounts section.
F

Primary Account: I don't do this, otherwise you can not take advantage of the automation and send the code via email. I select "Enter the code manually" in the popup options and select the discount code i have already created in the shopify discount section.

We also need to be able to set email reminders for when the discount code is about to expire, promoting products that can be purchased while the discount code is still valid

Hi, I just set up my first pop-up with Rivo. Does the code get automatically emailed to the newly added email address? I'm not sure I'd know how to make that happen otherwise?

This is a good idea to make sure all emails submitted are correct also
